This is a longer version of a test animation that came out well. I was testing a new volumetric fog option for a scene in Heart of Mercy that would bring out the moon light scatter as the camera moves, while also showing a good amount of ground fog.
The environment for this scene is the Dark Forest by Dave Berg, which came with a volumetric fog particle effect, however it didn't scatter as nicely as your director wanted it. I've tinkered with two instances of Ultra Volumetrics (one for the ground, with distance fields enabled), the other for the atmosphere. It's a night scene, so I've cranked up the moon light volumetric scattering in Ultra Dynamic Sky to bring out the light streaks.
